Workshop on Screencasting

SCRLC is delighted to present…

Screencasting, Tutorials, & You
by Eric Mahan Howd

Date: Thursday, 9 August
Location: Ithaca, NY

This one-day workshop will teach you to create your own screencasts which are effective, concise and give your users the help they need wherever and whenever they need it. If you’ve been puzzling how to share information with remote users on using a database, showing a search process, or demonstrating software (citations? downloading ebooks?…), this session will give you the skills to make it happen. Did you realize that screencasting can also be used for instruction? This session will examine pedagogical purposes for this medium as well. Complete details available at http://www.scrlc.org/Screencasts .

Using social media for you: Professional branding on LinkedIn with Scott Brown

Last August, the PNW Chapter offered a webinar on using social media in the workplace, concluding with a brief look at how you might brand yourself using social media tools. In this follow-up session, Scott Brown of Social Information Group takes us on the next step in branding yourself, with a focus on LinkedIn. He’ll cover approaches for professional branding, writing for LinkedIn, basic and premium features to make yourself stand out, and using your LinkedIn network for maximum visibility as an information professional. Attendees will come away with tips for making significant LinkedIn profile improvements right now, as well as a framework for keeping your profile active and working for you.
