Job Description:
The Content Services Librarian will create and maintain a collection development strategy to proactively develop a specialized print and electronic collection that supports the research needs of our students, faculty, and staff. The Content Services Librarian will also ensure that the library materials budget is efficiently allocated and aligned with established needs, assess the library’s current collections for ongoing relevance and/or historical value and continually assess the effectiveness of the collection via circulation and usage statistics.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Communicates the value of the print and electronic collections, including the Maritime Heritage collection, to the college community and beyond.

Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Research, Education, and Outreach, the Head of Health Science Library Services provides leadership and direction for integrating libraries services, resources, and expertise with the research, teaching, learning, and outreach activities of UB’s five health sciences schools: The Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, the School of Dental Medicine, the School of Nursing, the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the School of Public Health and Health Professionals. The HSLS staff and faculty serve the health sciences virtually and in person at all of the UB campuses, including the newly established Jacobs School of Medicine Library on the downtown campus.

A tenure-track, full-time, twelve-month academic faculty librarian reporting to the Director of Libraries. Provides general and specialized reference services to students, faculty, staff and community; general and specialized library instruction to students, faculty, staff and community. Participates in library-wide initiatives. Provides book selection and collection information for selected departments and participates in outreach activities. Provides library and information literacy instruction in all the library’s programs by teaching sessions, creating tutorials, and supplemental instructional items. Serves in a pool of instructional services librarians that may be assigned to sessions by Information Literacy Coordinator. Provides reference services at a desk, via technology, and by appointment. May work evenings and weekends as appropriate.

Inclusion and Accessibility Librarian, Syracuse University (Syracuse, NY)

Job Description
Syracuse University Libraries seeks to expand our role in sustaining a diverse and inclusive campus community through the appointment of an Inclusion and Accessibility Librarian, the first position of its kind at Syracuse University. This individual will play a critical leadership role in fostering an inclusive culture and expanding the Libraries’ accessibility services.

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education, the Inclusion and Accessibility Librarian will guide and support the Libraries’ efforts to promote inclusion and accessibility including goal-setting, planning, assessment, and advocacy. This individual will consult directly with our leadership team and will collaborate widely across our library, within the University, with other academic libraries and throughout higher education. In addition, as the Libraries’ expert on accessibility, this individual will oversee the Libraries’ assistive technology and accessibility services, working directly with Libraries clientele and staff as needed.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and build relationships with a wide variety of constituencies and to work cooperatively in a diverse, dynamic, team setting.

Director of College Libraries, SUNY ESF (Syracuse, NY)


Serving a doctoral granting, research institution the Director of College Libraries will be expected to anticipate and work with others to meet 21st century library challenges including integrating appropriate emerging technologies and open access resources.  The Director must possess a deep understanding of issues relevant to academic and research librarianship, including pedagogy and inquiry, scholarly communication and publishing, information literacy, digital libraries, library technologies, outcomes assessment, strategic planning, and advocacy. This position will require excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; a collaborative leadership style with an ability to assemble and manage effective teams; and commitment to institutional diversity, equity, and inclusion, including strong emotional intelligence, and the ability to engage and build relationships with College constituencies.
Required Qualifications: 
·         MLS or equivalent degree;
·         At least five years of related library experience and a strong administrative and academic record of progressively increasing responsibility in a higher education library setting;
·         Supervisory and budget management experience;
·         Experience in an academic library.
 
Preferred Qualifications: 
·         Ph.D. or other terminal degree;
·         Ten or more years of related library experience and a strong administrative and academic record of progressively increasing responsibility in a higher education setting;
·         Experience related to science and academic research librarianship;
·         Active involvement with library and related organizations.
