Resource Sharing Librarian, SUNY Oswego (Oswego, NY)

Penfield Library at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a 12-month, tenure track Senior Assistant Librarian position.
Description of Responsibilities:
·  Manage and provide leadership for borrowing and lending operations of Penfield Library’s Interlibrary Loan (ILL) unit, including goal setting, report preparation, and budgetary oversight.
·  Supervise and train unit staff (two full time clerks, student workers, and adjunct librarian assistants).
·  Participate in ILL request fulfillment, and provide relevant professional expertise and troubleshooting as needed.
·  Oversee and maintain custom holdings.
·  Oversee ILL copyright compliance.
·  Continuously assess and improve resource sharing policies and procedures.
·  Explore, plan, and oversee resource sharing initiatives.
·  Handle initial identification and troubleshooting of problems and opportunities regarding ILL software (currently ILLiad and Odyssey).
·  Collaborate with a variety of internal library partners and resource sharing librarians at other institutions.
·  Participate in the review and, when necessary, revision of vendor contracts and license agreements.
·  Serve as liaison to assigned academic departments, with responsibility for subject specialized collection development and instruction.
·  Participate in Research Help Desk rotation for on-site and virtual reference, including some evening and weekend shifts.
·  Engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.
In addition, this position will be expected to display a demonstrated potential for excellence in librarianship, scholarship, and service; commitment to undergraduate and graduate education; and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.

The Reference Assistant assists users of the Cornell University Library, primarily Olin & Uris libraries, at the Reference Desk and in the Digital Reference Services center in Olin Library, days, evenings and/or weekends.  Answers directional, factual, bibliographic, and basic subject reference questions in the social sciences and humanities for library patrons in person, and via telephone, email and online chat. Teaches individual patrons how to navigate and use print and digital information resources. Assists with technical support at public workstations.  Refers users to other staff and service points when appropriate. In collaboration with the Instructional Technology Coordinator, hires, trains, and supervises student information assistants.
Ability to interpret, clarify and analyze users’ questions, and make appropriate judgments. Ability to work calmly under pressure.  Ability to learn independently. Must work well as a member of a team and thrive in a rapidly evolving environment. Familiarity with PCs and Windows required. Art Librarian/Coordinator of Library Instruction, Alfred University (Alfred, NY)

Position Description: The Art Librarian/Coordinator of Library Instruction will be the lead professional in direct support of the distinguished undergraduate and graduate programs of the School of Art and Design.  The primary focus of this position is to work alongside art faculty to offer creative and meaningful instruction, learning assessment, and attentive library service.

Qualifications: A Masters Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program is required.  Strong subject expertise, or degree in an Art related field is required.  Evidence of creativity and an understanding of best practices in instruction are required. The ability to work independently on multiple projects and excellent written and oral communication skills are also required.  The successful candidate will possess strengths in project management, leadership in team environments, and experience in the use of technology for instruction.
Formal training and/or experience in instruction is highly desirable.  Experience with social media promotion, outreach programming, and knowledge of special collections is also desirable.   A degree in Art or Education is not required, but is a plus.
