Special Collections Librarian/Archivist for Research & Collections, University of Rochester (Rochester, NY)

The River Campus Libraries (RCL) Department of Rare Books, Special Collections seeks a dynamic, user-focused librarian/archivist. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Special Collections and Preservation, the Special Collections Librarian/Archivist for Research & Collections is part of an engaged team that provides vision and leadership for the continued development and use of rare and unique materials in research, instruction, exhibitions, collaborative projects, digital scholarship, and in other contexts.
The successful candidate will assume primary curatorial responsibility for specific collecting areas within Special Collections, and will develop expertise and knowledge in these areas and across the collections. The specific collection areas assigned will be based in part on the current strengths of the candidate; the successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in and ability to engage new topics.
Collections areas of strength and focus include, but are not limited to local history and culture (Western NY/Rochester); Abolition (including papers of Frederick Douglass), Women’s Suffrage (including papers of Susan B. Anthony and other important suffrage pioneers), 19th and 20th c. political collections (including the papers of William Henry Seward and Thomas E. Dewey), modern literature and literary collections (including the papers of John A. Williams and John Gardner); human rights and social justice collections; HIV/AIDS education; religion/interfaith collections; the history of science/optics/xerography; history of photography (including the Eastman Kodak Historic Collection), American and British theater, and more. Digital Resources and Systems Librarian (SUNY Geneseo)

SUNY Geneseo’s Milne Library invites applications for an entry level, full-time, tenure-track, Digital Resources and Systems librarian at the Senior Assistant Librarian rank.
 
As part of the Library Information Technology Services Department, this librarian will facilitate patron discovery and ensure consistent access to Milne’s collection of digital resources. This includes administration of discovery services, research databases, electronic journals & books, OpenURL resolvers, and electronic resources management systems. This position will maintain professional relationships with external service providers, technology suppliers, and consortial partners, in addition to faculty, staff, students, and other campus stakeholders. Moreover, the Digital Resources & Systems Librarian will work collaboratively with staff to transition Milne’s remaining print serials collection to digital formats. This position reports to the Library Director.
 
Responsibilities
·         Provide leadership, coordination, and administration of Milne’s digital resources and discovery services
·         Provide relevant statistical data and metrics, including usage and cost analysis, to support collection analysis and development decisions
·         Coordinate and assess the implementation of metadata strategies supporting the discovery and timely access to digital resources through the library’s catalog and knowledge base
·         Provide technical advice and hands-on support in integrating, troubleshooting, and resolving various issues with library systems and digital resources
·         Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to identify discovery needs and improve user experience
·         Plan, organize, and evaluate workflows that are both cost-effective and responsive to the needs of other library departments and of library users
·         Collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to identify discovery needs and improve user experience
 
Required Qualifications
·         Master’s degree in information and/or library science from an ALA-accredited school or an ALA-approved foreign equivalent
·         Minimum 2 years of experience working with library systems in an academic library
 
Preferred Qualifications
·         Experience with technology troubleshooting and problem resolution
·         Demonstrated project management skills
·         Proficiency with one or more scripting languages and/or coding HTML/CSS
·         Ability to utilize APIs and web based services
Instructions:
