The University Libraries at the University at Buffalo have recently restructured to focus strategically on five areas: research, education, and outreach; discovery and delivery; technology; administration; and law and legal information services. We are seeking an outstanding individual to hold the faculty leadership position of Associate University Librarian (AUL) for Research, Education, & Outreach. The AUL for Research, Education, & Outreach will report directly to the Vice Provost for University Libraries, and will work in concert with the Vice Provost as well as the other AULs in advancing the University Libraries and in support of the University’s research, teaching, and service tripartite mission.

Technical Services Librarian/College Archivist, Niagra County Community College (Sanborn)

Metadata Librarian, Cornell University Libraries (Ithaca)

Will work under the general direction of the Head of Metadata Services and in consultation with other key staff, and provide strategic and technical guidance on metadata practice for Cornell University Library’s (CUL) digital, physical and virtual collections within the broader context of CUL’s digital and programmatic needs. The Librarian also provides consultation and advocacy to both CUL colleagues and the community more broadly; this effort demands a strong knowledge of well-established and evolving metadata standards as well as their practical implications.  A key responsibility of this position will be the development of long-term solutions for improved MARC and non-MARC metadata management, interoperability and resource discovery based on principles of integration and reusability of metadata across platforms and collections. The Librarian will play an important role in strategic CUL initiatives, such as the Open Library Environment (OLE) implementation as well as the Andrew W. Mellon funded Linked Data for Libraries Labs (LD4L Labs) and Linked Data for Production projects (LD4P).   In cooperation with other library staff, the Librarian provides metadata expertise to CUL while monitoring external developments and changing needs in these areas. This position participates in the library’s research and development efforts and in local and national discussions relating to access, retrieval, description and management of library resources. The Metadata Librarian plays an active role in professional organizations inside and outside of the Cornell University Library community.  Deadline for applications is June 6, 2016.

Head of Research Services and Assistant Curator, Rare & Manuscript Collections, Cornell University (Ithaca)

Reporting to the Director of the Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections, the Head of Research Services (HRS) will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of onsite and remote reference and research services in the Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections (RMC). In cooperation with other RMC staff, the HRS will promote the visibility and use of Cornell’s rare book, manuscript, archival, and media collections, administering reference and access services.  The HRS will play a primary role in the daily management of RMC’s active special collections reading room, overseeing the responsible use of Cornell’s primary source research collections. The HRS will also provide supervision for reference and reproduction services staff.   As Assistant Curator, the HRS will work with the Assistant Director for Collections to promote and build the collections, foster classroom use of the collections by conducting instruction sessions and other presentations, interpret RMC’s collections through the preparation of exhibitions and related outreach efforts, and assist with collection development by identifying and recommending materials for acquisition.  Deadline for applications is May 20, 2016.

Instructional Services Librarian, Morrisville State College (Morrisville)

Morrisville State College (SUNY) invites applications for a full-time, tenure track instructional services librarian with an annual 11-month obligation.  The successful candidate will assume the lead role in infusing information literacy learning outcomes into a diverse campus community where the emphasis is on career-focused experiential learning. Instruction activities include a busy schedule of one-shot information literacy sessions and a one credit information literacy course, as well as responsibility for information literacy instruction impact assessment.  The instructional services librarian works independently and collaboratively with our small team of librarians to seek out opportunities to provide information literacy and library services guidance to both students and faculty, online and in-person. Responsibilities include oversight and assessment of Ask 24/7 reference services and participation in library marketing and program development and implementation. Additional duties include providing reference services, subject area liaison duties including collection development and course/subject guide development, and participation on campus-wide committees.
