Thursday Networking Dinner a Success!

Thursday Networking Dinner a Success!

Thank you to everyone who attended Thursday’s dinner at Rico’s Ristorante. We had some great conversations about collection development, promotion requirements, latest happenings at our libraries, and of course there were cute dog photos. Oh and did we mention the cannolis!

Webinar: Assessing and Communicating the Value of CI

SLA’s Competitive Intiligence Division is offering a free webinar Thursday, October 24, 2013 from

Description: Assessing a CI function’s value, especially its products and contributions to a company’s business continues to be a major challenge for most CI professionals.  There are several typical reasons given for this: Not sure how to do it; it requires a joint approach with other departments, with some “political” complications; or, just never tried it – seems too complicated.  However, for those few that have tried and those very few that have made it a regular part of their CI practice, the satisfaction and benefits are more than welcomed.  This Webinar will describe both the measurements you might use to assess your CI and some of the most effective ways to communicate the results.

Open Access made visible

Of particular note was the fact that a crucial benchmark may have been recently met: over half of the papers published in 2011 are now accessible online for free.
