Digital Scholarship Librarian: Monroe Community College

The Digital Scholarship Librarian to serve as the lead librarian for the Monroe Community College Libraries’ digital program. This individual will collaborate with colleagues to develop programs, processes, and services that support the integration of open and library content into the College’s curriculum; develop digital collections; and provide digital scholarship services to the college community, including the implementation and operation of tools to support online learning and scholarly communications.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with library colleagues and faculty in assigned liaison departments to integrate library resources and services into the curriculum
  • Supports the library’s general information literacy instruction program; works with faculty in assigned liaison departments to support information literacy outcomes in face-to-face, web-enhanced, hybrid, and online courses
  • Contributes to a repository of reusable adaptable learning objects (i.e. subject and course guides, instructional video, etc.) to support information literacy efforts
  • Provides reference services, both face-to-face and virtually
  • Collaborates with departmental colleagues on library-wide assessment efforts
  • Participates in MCC, local and state, and committees
  • Provides occasional night and weekend coverage
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution
  • Knowledge of issues relating to open education, open textbooks, open access, copyright, and intellectual property
  • Familiarity with learning theories and best practices related to information literacy instruction
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Active participation in local and state professional organizations
  • Evidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience providing instruction and/or reference services in an academic library
  • Knowledge of Blackboard
  • Familiarity with current trends in scholarly communication, including open access publishing and open educational resources
  • Familiarity with assessment practices in libraries and higher education.
