Library Director – SUNY Delhi

SUNY Delhi, founded in 1913, is a student-centered college that offers specialized certificates, nationally-recognized associate degree programs and unique baccalaureate degrees. Job Description:

Library Director
SUNY Delhi seeks a dynamic, forward thinking and engaging librarian to lead the Resnick Library.
The Library Director administers all library resources and services in support of the academic programs, student learning and instructional effectiveness; supervises and evaluates library personnel; and provides vision and direction for library services in collaboration with faculty, administration and staff in alignment with institutional mission and goals. The Director reports to the Provost, serves as a member of the Deans’ Council, represents the library on campus groups, and advocates for and promotes the library and its services as a critical component of institutional academic excellence. The Library Director provides planning and leadership for all functions of the library in collaboration with other academic units and in support of the mission of the College and serves as primary advocate for the library on campus.
The Library Director must demonstrate an understanding of the major challenges facing academic libraries in areas such as technology integration, digital collections, space utilization and assessment.
The specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Directly supervises the library professional staff and other personnel specifically employed for the library operation.
• Assumes responsibility for the selection, purchase and control of the physical equipment of the library.
• Sets policy for library operations.
• Oversees the acquisition, cataloging and circulation of library materials which reflect the qualities of excellence appropriate to the objectives of the college.
• Makes recommendation of annual budgets and supervises the expenditure of funds allocated to the library.
• Administers all aspects of the library services, staffing and resources including budget decisions and facilities planning.
• Represents the library on campus committees, serving as a member of the Dean’s Council and at campus events.
• Actively participates in SUNY-wide library initiatives.
• Coordinates the library program with campus and community needs.
• Solicits support for the library from individuals, businesses, governmental and philanthropic organizations.
• Collects and maintains the necessary data and statistics as may be required by the administration of the college and the university.
• Assumes responsibility for the development and implementation of a bibliographic instruction program for students.
• Prepares schedules of library hours and services.
• Submits the library annual report to the Provost.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Provost.

Requirements:

• ALA accredited MLS or MLIS degree
• 3-5 years’ experience in an academic library with a successful history of staff development and team building.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Financial management skills.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies in library services.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, tenure track position with an annual 11-month obligation. The Director currently shares in teaching, collection development and reference desk rotation during the week and selected weekends
The salary range is $75,000-$88,000 with an excellent fringe benefits package
