Information Resources Manager, Upstate Health Sciences Library, Syracuse

Upstate Medical University‚Äôs Health Sciences Library seeks a highly motivated, forward-thinking professional to provide leadership, planning and management of the Health Sciences Library collection. Reporting to the Deputy Director, the successful candidate will: coordinate resource management including the selection, licensing, cataloging and weeding of materials, optimize Library resources to meet the current and emerging needs of the Upstate community by continuously assessing resource utilization; lead cooperative collection development activities including collaborative purchases with other SUNY and local institutions; manage a $1.2 million resources budget; oversee Document Delivery/ILL; supervise staff; seek opportunities to enhance one’s own professional knowledge, skills and abilities as they relate to one’s current position and/or prepare for potential future roles and career development.

ALA-accredited masters (MLS) or equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in a supervisory capacity required. Demonstrated success with project leadership and team building; excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical/problem solving and critical thinking skills required. Academic library experience; AHIP certification and expertise with health sciences and evidence-based/point-of-care resources preferred.

The HSL’s current interests include developing new collaborations with local, regional and SUNY libraries; further developing our Family Resource Center; promoting a culture of evidence-based practice, delivering HSL services to geographically dispersed locations and to the patients and families in our 25 counties service area.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Initial appointment will be at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian. Salary is dependent on qualifications. Excellent benefits package including TIAA-CREF and other retirement options. 12 month, tenure track position with faculty status.
