Vedder Research Library – Archivist

The Board of Trustees of the Greene County Historical Society seeks a highly motivated professional to continue its commitment to quality library service at the Vedder Research Library in Coxsackie, New York.  The librarian/archivist will manage its collection of manuscripts, photographs, court records and other items relevant to a local historical society library. The position is part-time, approximately 18 hours a week.  The librarian will report to the library committee, collaborate with staff involved in library operations, and support a core of volunteers.

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree; a Masters in Library or Information Science is preferred, with coursework and experience in archives and preservation.  A strong background in technology is necessary; experience using PastPerfect would be helpful.  Knowledge of genealogical research and New York State history is required.  Knowledge of Greene County history would be a plus; the successful candidate must be willing to learn.  Salary is $18 per hour.
