Digital Learning Consultant, IT Services

SUMMARY:

The Digital Learning Consultant is a hands-on position that collaborates with the HWS community to promote active learning through the instructional use of digital resources. This position is a member of the Digital Learning Team and is part of the Learning Commons staff, a collaborative venture between the Library, Center for Teaching and Learning, Operations and Technical Support, and the Digital Learning Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help faculty and students achieve curricular goals through the exploration, implementation, and evaluation of digital resources for course-related projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to articulate, demonstrate and apply best practices in the use of digital resources for teaching, learning, and scholarship.
  • Develop and deliver programs, training, workshops, and resources which promote the use of digital resources for teaching and learning.
  • Provide leadership, programmatic collaboration, and instructional design in areas of specialization and skill, such as GIS, data analytics, blended learning, etc.
  • Assist in the discovery, administration and delivery of learning management resources (LMS, Web 2.0 tools, app-based software, and cloud-based services).
  • Provide expert hours and drop-in support for curricular technology needs.
  • Assist in mentoring the student Tech Fellows staff in their effort to support digital learning projects.
  • Participate in meetings and events related to IT Services and the Digital Learning Team.
  • Works collaboratively with the Learning Commons staff to fulfill educational needs and curricular goals.
  • Represent IT Services and the Digital Learning Team on committees and organizations in support of the HWS community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred with a background in higher education and/or training delivery.
  • Clear understanding of curricular development, learning theories, and academic assessment.
  • Teaching or training experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Ability to adopt new technologies and identify their integration into the curriculum.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring creativity, enthusiasm, and vision in the promotion of digital resources.
  • Superior communication skills with the ability to interact with people at all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects/tasks while keeping to strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability as a team player who can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem solving skills with a keen ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Knowledge and experience with Windows, Macintosh and mobile platforms.
