Corning Museum of Glass – Chief Librarian

Job Description – Chief Librarian

POSITION SUMMARY:
Leads and administers all aspects of the Rakow Library, including Technical and Public Services, Archives, Digital and Print Collections, Digital Initiatives, Rights and Reproductions, and Licensing.  Researches and recommends acquisitions for special collections.  Represents and promotes the Library to external groups and individuals.  Supervises Library staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum five years senior management of a museum or academic library.
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program; graduate study desirable, in field(s) related to the Museum’s/Library’s collections.
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to represent the Museum in a professional manner.
Strong leadership, management and supervisory skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Microsoft applications.
Experience with Integrated library systems.
Broad knowledge of current trends in librarianship.
Experience and ability to work with foreign languages.
Ability to work in a team environment.
