Recap From Fall 2012 Meeting – SLA and You

At the fall UNYSLA meeting, Jill Hurst-Wahl and Chris Zammarelli spoke to us about making the most of SLA. Whether you are new to the field or an experienced veteran, there is something that you can do to get more involved–and more out of your SLA.

Message from Jill Hurst-Wahl:

During my presentation at the Oct. 19 chapter meeting (slides), I asked people to think about 3-5 topics related to their work that they could teach about.  At the end of my talk, I suggested that they might share information about those topics in a variety of different ways including chapter/division blog posts, Information Outlook articles, chapter or conference presentations, informal discussions, etc.

If you were at the event on Friday, I hope you will follow-up on what you wrote AND do one of those activities!  Share what you know with your fellow members AND take advantage of learning from them.  That activity will benefit all of us. Thank you!

Jill

As Chair of SLA’s First Five Years Advisory Council, Chris Zammarelli reached out to new librarians, and even experienced librarians making a career change.
