Cayuga Community College – Reference Librarian (Part-Time)

Job Description – Reference Librarian (Part-Time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Provide reference and research services to library patrons, in person and online, using traditional library resources along with current and emerging technologies.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of user-oriented services, including web pages, electronic resources, and other instructional and promotional materials.
  • Participate in collection development efforts, including the selection and withdrawal of materials in assigned areas.
  • Actively participate in the assessment function of the library.
  • Assist library patrons and staff with the use of various computer hardware and software applications.
  • Assist with the cataloging of library materials.
  • Prepare periodic and special reports as required.
  • Assist with formal and informal information literacy instruction.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the overall operation of the library.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited program and 2 years of library experience in public or reference services.

Experience in a community college library and experience with integrated library systems is preferred. A broad background in the liberal arts is preferred.
