Job Description – Electronic Resources Librarian

POSITION SUMMARY:
Broome Community College seeks an innovative and personable Electronic Resources Librarian.  The ideal candidate will be energized by finding the best way to organize and process our collection to meet the needs of our students and faculty.  This is a 12-month tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Librarian.

This Assistant Librarian works in collaboration with the reference staff, Systems Librarian and technical services staff to ensure that our print and electronic collections are accurate and easily accessible to users.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, management of the library’s electronic resources, including monitoring subscriptions, collecting usage statistics, arranging trials, and troubleshooting access problems; maintaining an awareness of new and emerging capabilities of specific e-resources; providing guides and training about electronic resources; copy cataloging; collection development and liaison duties in assigned subject areas; and participating in providing reference and library instruction.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A master’s degree from ALA-accredited library and information science program required.  Three years of professional library experience, or an appropriate combination of librarianship, relevant work experience, and scholarly activity.  Demonstrated experience in cataloging and classification standards; library instruction or post-secondary teaching experience; and collection development.  Strong analytical, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills and flexibility in the workplace required.  Preference given to candidates with experience in managing electronic resources and/or services; compiling and analyzing database usage data and overlap analysis; familiarity with OCLC Connexion; familiarity with access management tools such as Serial Solutions and EZproxy; collection development experience in the disciplines of business, criminal justice, and/or art; and experience working with Ex Libris Aleph and ILLiad.
