Job Posting – Collection Development / Acquisitions Librarian

The Collection Development/Acquisitions Librarian will leverage knowledge of current trends in academic libraries, the publishing trade, cataloging, information delivery services, and copyright related to higher education to plan for and efficiently manage the library’s physical and digital information collections. Working closely with Library faculty and staff, the Librarian will design and implement a Library Collections Assessment program that supports data and curricula-informed decision making, and lead the search for emerging technologies impacting academic library collections and information resources.  Reporting to the Library Director, the Librarian will have a lead role in planning, developing, and maintaining the library’s physical and digital information resources collections, including procurement, licensing, and supporting access to digital and print information resources for student, curricular, and research needs, and TC3 community and distance education initiatives.

Master of Library Science or related degree from an American Library Association accredited program.  Experience in coordinating, developing, and assessing academic library collections; using appropriate statistical and analytical measures to effectively track use of information resources; and the procurement, licensing of, and supporting access to digital and print information resources. Familiarity with basic cataloging practices/standards and the use and application of electronic and media information resources and technologies in higher education.  Demonstrated commitment to equal opportunity and success for all students, regardless of possible barriers, including, but not limited to, race, gender, socio-economic class, culture, age, ability or life experience.

Three or more years of recent professional academic or research library experience applicable to this position.  Familiarity with trends in the electronic and print publishing trade and copyright related to higher education.  Experience and effectiveness in coordinating, developing, and assessing academic library collections; distance education initiatives and library collections access, and the delivery of related services; working in a consortial environment and serving in a liaison capacity with academic instructional faculty.  Working knowledge of Ex Libris Aleph, ILLiad, and OCLC Connexion.
