SUNY Cobleskill – Teaching and Learning Librarian

Job Description – Teaching and Learning Librarian

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Teaching & Learning Librarian collaborates with faculty and campus departments to assist in the design, delivery, and assessment of information literacy within the curriculum. This position is a twelve-month, full-time, tenure-track appointment. The position also participates in the general work of the reference department and serves as a liaison to academic areas as assigned. Reporting to the Library Dean, this position will develop strategies to promote information literacy and the library to the campus. This position will also work with other campus areas to ensure that information literacy is part of student success.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  •     Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited institution
  •     At least three (3) years of full-time professional library experience, preferably at the College level
  •     Sound knowledge of instructional design and effective pedagogies for in-person and online instructional sessions
  •     Applied knowledge of emerging information technologies, including alternative reference tools and social networking software
  •     Strong problem-solving skills and excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  •     Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and effectively respond to the needs of the campus community
  •     Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  •     Demonstrated ability to meet criteria for promotion and tenure
  •     Strong service orientation
  •     Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and the Office suite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  •     Professional instruction experience in an academic library setting
  •     Professional experience with information literacy assessment
  •     Experience with course management and automated library systems
  •     Supervisory experience
