Spring Meeting Highlight – Citation Habits

The Library is a Growing Organism: Innovative Methods, Classic Missions
Date: Friday, 20 April
Time: 9:00 – 3:30
Location: Ithaca, NY (map)

Join us this April as Jeremy Cusker discusses a method he has developed for using ISI Web of Science to find the citation habits of whole lists of authors (i.e. an entire academic department) with an eye toward comparing “top journal” lists generated by ISI, Eigenfactor or others to what the faculty he works with actually cite. This can also be used as a tool by new librarians for learning about what the specific research interests of the departments they work with are.

Full presentation description and event details
Jeremy Cusker is the Earth Sciences and Engineering Outreach Librarian at the Engineering Library at Cornell University. He received his MA in Library Studies from UW-Madison in 2006 and has worked in libraries—public, academic and law—since 2004. His interests include analysis of citation patterns, database evaluation and learning new ways of doing library instruction. He is currently trying to beat Rhythm Heaven Fever for Nintendo Wii.
